Udar Arogya Ayurvedic Treatment for Monsoon Stomach Problems
It seems like at no other time has the rain been more awaited than it is now. So, the monsoons will definitely be a blessed relief. But unfortunately, the season brings with it a gamut of diseases and illnesses. We need to take care of our health with extreme care especially in the rainy season if we plan to make it through unscathed.
Ayurveda is the oldest system of health care. According to Hindu beliefs, the principles of Ayurveda were written in Atharva Veda, the last of the four Vedas, by Lord Brahma himself. Ayurveda’s theories of holistic healing and wellness are as relevant in today’s world as it was before.
Ayurvedic divides the seasons into:
l Sharad Ritu (Autumn),
l Varsha Ritu (Monsoon),
l Greeshma Ritu (Summer),
l Vasant Ritu (Spring),
l Hemant Ritu (Early Winter),
l Shishir Ritu (Late Winter),
Each of these seasons has a specific dietary plan in order to balance Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas. These doshas affect the well-being of an individual.
Ayurveda and Monsoons:
In Ayurveda, during monsoon, Vata gets aggravated, Pitta gets accumulated, and Kapha gets pacified or controlled. Due to an increase in the levels of humidity, during monsoons, it leads to fermentation and ultimately results in the conversion of ingested food into sour components, which causes an increase in acidity.
Vata is considered to be the most important of the tree doshas that include Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata governs many movements in the body and mind such as blood circulation, elimination of wastes, breathing and the thoughts. During the monsoons, Vata gets affected and results in:
l Low digestion
l Low immunity
l Low body strength
The level of Pitta also increases mildly during the Rainy Season. Pitta is a heavy, sticky, undigested residue, which is toxic, and can weaken the digestion and disturb proper formation of tissues. Pitta increase results in the following:
l Body feeling uncomfortably hot
l Acid reflux
l Heartburn
l Gastric or peptic ulcers
